Welcome from the SHRM Executive Director

Welcome to the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management (SHRM) in The W. A. Franke College of Business (FCB) at Northern Arizona University! Established in 1986, SHRM is the pre-eminent hospitality program in Arizona. While we are one of the largest hospitality programs in the U.S., we are intentionally student-focused. Our faculty are excellent teachers who stay connected to the hospitality industry through research projects, consulting, and faculty externships.

We are also one of the most prestigious hospitality programs in the country. According to researchers Gould & Bojanic (2013), SHRM ranks 9th in overall quality, 7th in the quality of the facilities, and 8th in career services amongst our peers. With the renovation of SHRM East, the School now has a state-of-the-art, LEED Silver-certified facility that includes technology-enhanced classrooms; a demonstration kitchen; a dining room and beverage lab; and comfortable breakout rooms and gathering spaces for students.

Currently, over 70% of our students graduate with an entry-level management job offer. Our recruiters are from leading hospitality organizations in the industry: Four Seasons, Aramark, Pappas Restaurants, Café Zupas, Darden Restaurants, Marriott International, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, and many others.

If you are interested in a career in the exciting and dynamic hospitality industry with the opportunity to engage with faculty dedicated to your success, SHRM @ NAU is the place for you.
